Tenley Westbrook / CD review “ I Believe”

In her 2008 debut release of I believe, Tenley has captured the very essence of love, hope and faith. Her musical talent, love for others and positive outlook on life shines through on the title track “I Believe”, “It’s All About Love” and Inside Your Arms. Tenley has even captured her love for children in “Every Child” Her optimistic outlook on a cover version of “I Can See Clearly Now” added with an original twist of “Song In My Heart” is a stunning picture of her true self. Tenley along with co-writer and producer John Paul have mixed a masterful eleven song masterpiece with capturing melodies, strong harmonies, beautiful piano standing as the back bone and a variety of guitar sounds with a unique and extremely talented playing style are simply fantastic! Hearing Tenley perform her music and listening to her tell her story of how her faith in God, has carried her through many trials in life was a mind blowing experience for me personally. Her personal testimony along with her dynamic speaking and singing abilities will change the way you look at the trials and tribulations we all face in our own life’s. Once you hear her story and her song, your life will be changed. You will choose to look upward and not down when those life trials fall upon you.

Mike Alfaro / Worship Team Leader

Tenley Westbrook's album, “I Believe”, is a great work of art with an even greater message. Her work with her producer, John Paul, makes for a great duo team on her project. Her vocals and harmonies lock in tight like a hand in glove. The thing I love about her raspy alto sound is that not only is her chest voice impressively high, but her voice soars, groans, and bends with the soul of a saxophone player. Her style, control, beauty of sound, and great vibrato puts you in the mind of a mixture of greats like Celine, Bette, Eva Cassidy, and Babs. Her first track, “The Only Way”, is a great example of the qualities listed above and the chorus of that song has that catchy hook that some of your most favorite and most memorable songs have. Make sure to pick up her album. She'll certainly win you over with her voice and message!

but those who hope in the LORD
       will renew their strength.

they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
